Spooky Tales

WRITERS! Bridgeside Books of Waterbury, VT, is seeking submissions from teen writers for original spooky stories set in Vermont for a "Spooky Tales" event in October 2022.

DETAILS:
  • 8-15 pages
  • Must be your original work and take place in Vermont
  • Due June 15
  • Email to [email protected] with "Spooky Tales" in subject line
MORE DETAILS FROM THE ORGANIZERS: Seeking original spooky stories that take place in Vermont and hold local towns, themes, or people at the heart of the story. Stories should feel like a campfire ghost story, best when read aloud, and they must be set and themed in Vermont. Submissions that are selected by Bridgeside Books will be presented at Spooky Tales – an evening event in October (date, time, place TBD) with stories read aloud by local actors. This will be a family-friendly event, but aimed at teens and adults, walking the thin line of creepy and haunting. Invoke occult characters, real-life monsters (humans with monstrous behaviors), local legends and ghost stories, or your own original creations. Looking for fun, spine-chilling stories, but not ones that leave the audience deeply disturbed or grossed out. Let Vermont and the spirit of Halloween be as much of a setting as a character itself.

For submissions and more information: [email protected]
