The songs I hear are the pitter-patter of the light rain on my roof, the sound of me aggressively typing on my keyboard and my annoying and loud thoughts. The rain is quiet, and the typing is not. My mind, however, is both. Stress. Stress is loud. Stress is annoying. Stress is stressful. Currently, it’s what takes up most of my life right now. What did I do on my math test today? I need to apply for that job. How am I going to manage all my summer activities? Finals are coming up. I need to study for my Spanish quiz.
So I suppose stress is also one of the harsher noises my brain can make. Next, there is excitement, one of the sole things keeping the stress from taking over. The excitement is like the morning birds you hear when you wake up with a ray of sunshine streaming through your bedroom window. My excitement is for summer. There are only sixteen more days left until I’m done with this school year. Excitement is like the sound of the school bell ringing at the end of the day. Excitement is one of my favorite noises that occupy my brain; the other is happiness. Happiness is simply the sound of beautiful silence. A silence that makes you smile. The happiness in my brain is getting good grades in my classes. It’s getting a personal record in my track meet, and laughing with those close to me. Happiness might have to be my favorite; after all, it doesn’t have a sound. It keeps me peaceful. But the reason we humans can’t only have happiness is because silence would be pretty boring. After all, we need some aggressive typing in our life every now and then.

I love this, what beautiful thoughts. Stress also sounds like aggressive typing for me too. Glad happiness and excitement can balance it out!
