List

You succeeded but you failed
You succeeded but you failed
You succeeded
You succeeded but you failed

You are above their bar and below yours
You survived but you do not celebrate

They say you reached for the stars.
They tell their children of your strength with a quiet awe in their voice.
Their children reflect in ten fold in their eyes, you know.
But you put on your weights anyway.

Some people know of your bar,
That is their standerd.

They will nod when you succeed.

"My weights are not meant to be broken," you say.
The list goes on.

The water is muddy, as if you used dirt instead of paints.
Your desk has hot glue bits and remains.
Their are many smudges and stains, the list is endless.

When you reach for the stars, stain them with smears of paint and marker.
When you burn your hand on them, remember the hot glue gun burns, because your new burns will fit right in.
When they tell you to touch the stars for their awe to spark,
Meditate underneath a nice tree alone.
List all you need to in order to remind yourself
That your definition of survival
Is defining.

There is a small plant that sits on the corner of my life.

    It is a tough little plant;
    I have not watered it.
I do not give it soil, but I do take it, and throw it to the wind.
  • Dying songbird

Please don't leave me, you dying songbird.

Your song is still beautiful, no matter the notes, no matter the order
Please don't leave your rusting cage via shoebox, friend.
  • an old web
