i talked to someone today
i talked to a man in canada over a chatroom
he didn't say much
we chatted back and forth nonverbally
he asked me
did a cripple deserve love

i said yes
because everyone does

he asked me why
because i was the first person he'd ever talked to
that said yes
and i told him
everyone deserves someone
and physical ability doesn't define what a person is
neither does apperance
or an impulsive choice they make
you cannot determine who a person is
just by what they might be

everyone has dreams
i asked him what his was
and he described being with the love of his life
captured every moment in lightened detail
painted an image i could see clearly
and i could imagine it for him
i could see him making his dreams a reality

but he didn't believe me
he said he'd been turned down to 700 jobs
700
all because he's confined to a wheelchair
his mental health isn't great
he's paralyzed from the waist down
and people look at him differently

first impressions
they scar everyone
regardless of if those scars heal or not
they're still formed
society has scarred me
society has scarred my friends
society has scarred this man
because of what
we're scared of what we don't know?
it's normal to be scared of the unknown
how you act on it impacts a lot

i talked to someone today
i talked to a man in canada over a chatroom
i listened to his story
i listened to his hopes and dreams
                   his successes and failures
i listened
because there is more out there than i'll ever know
and i want to know
i listened
and then i left

please
tell me a story too

(sorry this was just written in a mixture of confusing emotions)
