Restless Energy

I have this restless energy
That leaves me in total disarray
I’m not sure what to do with her
What exactly could I say?

I’m not sure how I know she’s here
But it’s a feeling that builds up inside
I start drafting poems in my head
Yet I’m also acutely tongue tied

The only release of this chaotic soul
Is ink or pixels on a page
If I tell it with vibrations
My brain to mouth will disengage

I can feel the words building up within
Jostling each other just to find more room
My head begins to ache and my chest grows ever tighter
Every second brings along a sense of certain doom

I can not work until I have tried
To express the crazy jumbled knots
As though I have to remove myself from the equation
Before I can organize my thoughts

  • Of the Chronic Sort

    Look, I understand
    you’re just trying to relate
    Pain makes you uncomfortable
    It’s a very human trait

    I am not in favor
Of the pain my body makes
And I will not be offended
If there’s not a part of you that aches
  • Dear Body

I’m sitting in my bio class
    Learning all about you
I think we need to have a chat
Since, you don’t do what you’re supposed to

    Did you know
    when tissues tear
    You’re supposed to fix yourself?
You have the way to repair
