Criticize

My parents are quick to criticize. After I showed them a piece of my work they were so quick to say it was good but I found this part confusing, it was good but this doesn't make any sense, it was good but it could be better. I never walk away with oh that was a nice piece of work, I always walk away with some type of criticism that I never actually needed. I just wanted you to have open ears, truly take in my words and appreciate that your daughter writes but here I am walking away with a heavy heart filled with your input that I never really wanted. I was sharing this out of a courtesy to you. Putting you into a piece of my life that sometimes I don't think you even deserve to know. My parents are quick to criticize and they always let me know.

    Labels

When you label someone you put them in a box.

A child has to be innocent, a woman has to be perfect, a man has to be strong. All these labels that we have for everything and anything.

    Perfectly Imperfect

People have always told me that I’m perfect. I’m this shiny object that doesn’t have an imperfection in sight. But people don’t know that nobody is perfect, and that even seemingly perfect people have cracks.

    Mother Knows Best

Mother knows best. That’s what they always say. But what happens when she doesn’t know best, what then. I am left out in the sea whirling as the currents push me this way and that.
