LIFE IS A GAME, LIFE IS A DANCE

"Life is a game, life is a dance." - Grandma Carol

In memorial of Grandma C

Life is a difficult word to pin down.

On the one hand, life is a game.

When you are up to bat at the pitcher's mound

It throws you curveballs, and your head is in aim

Life cannot be predicted, nor can it be cheated

You cannot break the rules it presents

Yet you stood on your knees, and you pleaded

Hoping to change the outcome of the events

Life in itself is all a game

Yet life is also a dance

When life cheats you and you don't feel the same

The music starts bumping, and you are put into a trance

All of a sudden, there are no rules

Your body starts moving and forgets the rest

Your muscles ache, your sweat starts to pool

And so disappears all of your stress

For just a moment, life has been cheated

For forgetting the rules for just a second

Has given your soul the bliss it has needed

And life in itself starts to feel a little pleasant

Life is a game, and life is a dance

One cannot function without the other

So for just once, give yourself a chance

And learn to see all of the colors

Because life is not black and white, it is a whole spectrum

Initially, however, these colors you cannot see

It is only when you open your soul from the haunting of your phantom

That your soul is unchained, and now free

  • DAY FISHING

    Through this ocean wet.

    My voice, free to thrive.

    Sea fish within dive.

    Reach in, draw the net.

    There you are, at last…

Tell me what you have seen…

    Tell me everything…

  • A TREE

    A tree

    A stationary tree

The bark so righteous; its core so pure

The leaves illuminate with the sunlight

The roots befriend the live earth

    All as one, freely

    A human

    A cross human

  • MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN

In the middle of the ocean I lie
There is not a single cloud in the sky
The sun beams down and browns my skin evenly
    Drying my skin like a towel, boiling my blood like tea;
