seven

being seven is being quiet

and tongue tied

and lied to

being seven is running in circles

drawing in lines

speaking in riddles

being seven is rotating through personalities

to split down the middle infinitely

to revisit certain parts of your character only when you can't hide them anymore

to be beaten into submission

to be floated and passed around by friends like a commodity

to know no security or stability

to be naive and overly curious and kind

to be seven is to no longer have identity

to be seven is to feel the weight of the world on your shoulders

to be seven is to have no confidence

to be seven is to never look like everyone else

to be seven is to regret picking up the fork and the plate

to be seven is to regret doing childhood wrong.

  • red lipstick

    one stick

    one swipe

    that represents my love

    my adulthood

    so where is my lipstick?

    who's borrowing it tonight?

who's borrowing my courage coat tonight?

I need both to appear ready for anything

  • notes

take note of everything I say

my feelings are rooted in symbolism and poetry

    my femininity washes over me

and a guilty realization sets in

I get to play both parts in my head

    man and woman

  • limerence

what can only be described as an unhealthy need for chaos

chaos that fills an emotional void

to be devoid of feeling is to loose your humanity

    your identity

your self, and sense of self.

    I lost it once, too.
