they seem sweet and innocent 
they bend easily 
but unlike a flower stem 
some can be impossible to break 
you may hurt them 
scar them 
rip them up to shreds 
but you will never be able to break them 
some people are like shiny metals
hard and not afraid to show it
you can punch them 
blame them 
abuse them with your words 
but you cannot break them 
and some people are like brittle twigs
they're tired
and just want their sorry excuse for a life to end
so easily snapped 
but if you help them grow 
if you make them see purpose 
if you show them what they can be 
it's likely they will never let it go

with your claws 
and your teeth
you sweet lies 
and your hard truths
your anger
