A Snowy Wonderland
I wake up to a cold breeze from my patio, and I go outside for a moment, gazing up at the snow falling from the sky.
A small snowflake lands on my nose. I stand there looking at all the snow in its sparkly wonder. -
An Old Snowglobe
I sit on a shelf,
Waiting and waiting.
I see the people who come in and out of the toy store.
None of them look at me, though …
They all go to the Barbies and Lego sets, -
Crawling Fears
Crawling darkness.
Piercing your soul.
A sinking feeling in your chest.
Unable to breathe
You collapse to the floor.
Terrified.
You’re just glued to the floor.
Unable to move. -
Thank you, 2022
2022
A good year.
Made lots of friends.
Lived a happy year.
Learned a lot along the way.
As each year passes, so do the flames of trauma.
The broken pieces finally being put back together again,
becoming whole. -
A Bird
Born in a tree, flightless and helpless.
Needing a mother to feed us and keep us safe.
Months of looking at the older birds that fly next to the clouds
Finally learning to fly, soaring above the trees. -
My Family
My family is like a painted picture,
A picture that has gone through a lot.
The flames of trauma burnt the picture slightly.
My mom being the artist, she created all she could from the paints.
