Protests Begin
Americans are starting to rally against the Trump administration. Thousands turned out in state capitals and cities across the U.S. on Wednesday to speak out against Trump's policies and to gather support for a national resistance movement.

The demonstrations came together online in just two days under hashtags such as #BuildtheResistance, and the tagline 50501, for the goal of 50 protests in 50 states in one day. The New York Times reported that in Lansing, MI, Democratic state rep. Carrie Rheingans called the protests "just the beginning." She said the protests were organized by people who “couldn’t take it anymore. ... There will be more actions. There will be more organizing. There will be more things for regular everyday Americans to plug into.”
In Montpelier, VT, VTDigger.org reported that "If any thread unified the protesters, it was the desire to push back against what they said was Trump’s anti-democratic approach to his presidential power and harm to marginalized people."
