Trump's response to the protests in Los Angeles – to send in the National Guard and Marines – happened against the wishes of California Gov. Gavin Newsom and L.A. police. Newsom called the deployment of military forces "a blatant abuse of power." Protests against the Trump administration are growing. (See the Seven Days story about protests in Burlington.)
