Its Not All Men

“It's not all men”
They say

And no maybe it's not

But if there's a shark

Deep in the water

Do you dive in and wait

Wait until it swallows you whole

Ruins you
No

“It's not all men”
They say

And no maybe it's not

But if you've been burned before

Do you touch the water again

Without looking for steam

Dip your fingers into the pot

Let it burn you

Ruin you

No

“It's not all men”
They say

And no maybe it's not

But if you remember the way it felt

To fall and scrape your knees

Do you sit there and drag them on the ground

Letting the blood make the concrete dark and wet

Letting your perfect skin fill with rocks

Let it sting

Ruin you

No

“It's not all men”
They say

And no maybe it's not

But if you get all dressed up

Do you hair

Your makeup

Do you look out the window

While the rain is pouring down

Down like Mother Nature's tears

Do you step outside

Out in the cold rain

Do you let it mess up all your hard work

Your perfect makeup

Your curled hair

Your clothes

Now wet and sticking to your body

Let it disappoint you

Ruin you

No

“It's not all men”

They say

And no maybe it's not

But if one man

Does one thing

To hurt you

Disrespect you

Disappoint you

Ruin you

Do you think anything will be the same?
Will you feel the same way

Alone on the streets with a man

In a room with a man

It doesn't matter who that man is

Because if one person can do anything to you

Can’t anyone else do the same?

Yes

    Why, little mouse?

    Why, little mouse

    Do you look up

    Up at the sky

Why do you act as if the stars

    Might make everything better

    Why, brown bear

    Changing Seasons

The air, cold at night, warm during day
All of the kids, out to play
The leaves are falling, painting the streets
