100 Years From Now

In one hundred years
I'd like to think
we'd have
finally learned
from our mistakes

But who knows?

Maybe we will
finally get
our first ever
female president
or maybe the country 
will still be run
by old men

I don't even know 
if our country
will exist anymore
maybe we'll live
in a dystopian world
like The Hunger Games
or 1984

That would suck

It would be nice
if the world
was a sort of
futuristic paradise
but somehow
I don't think so

Society is corrupt
bad things happen
every day
and as long as
mankind exists
it will always be this way

Our technology
will probably be cooler
but our problems 
will always stay the same
​because humans
are bad at learning
from their past mistakes

If we can't face
our messed up past
our futures
cannot be bright
we need to admit
to what we did
and what 
our ancestors
have done

Maybe then
we can fix
a couple of
our problems
but all our problems
will never be solved
