The awakening

The awakening (2nd book in the short series)

"Hipps!" I growl, "Appear!"

A small sigh came from blank space. "I don't want to, I'm scared of the coyote Cwiny, ack! Here he comes!"

I turn around to see a thin grumpy female coyote glaring at me.

"Where's the rabbit! I'm hungry!" She snarled.

"What's your name Coyote?" I pestered.

"Dwe." She responded, "So, about that rabbit?"

"No never. Hipps is my friend, now leave me alone." I growl.

"Fine, let me starve." Dwe sobbed.

"Go eat Squeaks." Hipps sniffed, appearing from behind me.

"Fine." Dwe sniffed and trotted away.

"So can I leave this place, and return to the real world?" I ask Hipps.

"Fine." He grumbles. "Follow me." He starts hopping towards a grassy meadow and stops by a dandelion patch.

"Here?" I ask.

"Yes, here." He murmurs, "Now, clear your mind and think of your icy world."

I clear my mind and let it drift away.

When I opened my eyes, I was back in my den, with Hipp's at my side.

"Cold." Hipps said. "I've forgotten how cold it was."

"Yes, it's cold, and it's also perfect." I growled.

"Never said it wasn't." Hipps reported.

"Ok, but whats the secret?" I say.

"Sigh. Fine. It's not really a secret, it's just me and the Cwiny received a prophecy about an arctic fox named Luna, and that's you."

"What did the prophecy say about me?" I gasp.

"That you'll save is all from a great danger." Hipps replied.

"It didn't say." Hipps sniffed.

My eyes closed, and my tail puffed up. My legs started shaking, and Hipps backed away.

"Luna?!" He cried

"Hipps..." I say. "Help... me..."

"What do I do?" Hipps yelled.

I was about to reply, when little dots of blackness filled vision, then filled my sight completely.

I fell onto the ground, feeling the cold snow in my fur, and the world faded to nothingness.

I love my window; the window that lets me see outside. But today, when I looked outside, I noticed something. The clouds were dark but not storm clouds. Smoke and pollution were filling the skies and making it hard to look outside.
