Beeeep! I slam my hand down on my alarm clock and jump out of bed. I've been waiting for this day for months. It’s the day of the big debut game against my team's rivals the Washington Wasps. When we got to the game we all got greeted by our team’s mascot; Buster, who was clad in a simple dog mascot outfit. The wasps who wore yellow and black were just starting to show up and they had a fighting look stricken across their faces. During the pregame warm ups they couldn’t hit any shots and it made it look like we would dub the win.
The games started and we won the jump ball, we hit a quick 3 to start off the game but as soon as the Wasps got the ball they were all power. They hit an NBA distance 3 to tie up the game and we got an easy layup but Washington would not stop hitting the long bomb 3s and soon the first half was over and we were losing 68-31. Our coach gave us a good pep-talk at halftime but when the 3rd quarter started things seemed like it was just going to turn out like the first half. At the end of the 3rd quarter we were down 82-58 and it seemed like the odds weren’t going to be in our favor. At the beginning of the last quarter it felt like a miracle happened. We started shooting and making a bunch of 3s and with 30 seconds left we were only down 105-99. Our coach called our last timeout and we went back in thinking we could win it. We shot the ball from beyond the three and made it now the score was only 105-102, we intentionally fouled them and they were in the bonus. Then a sort of miracle happened. They missed both of their shots from the free throw line and it was our ball. We dribbled it up the court, shot a buzzer beater 3 and got fouled on the shot, and the basket went in! Went to the line for 1 and made it, we were up 106-105! They passed the ball in but to no prevail we had won the game and we were happy.
