You have broken me

You drew me in 
with your humor and charm
and all of a sudden I was head over heels
giggling like a small child
my face turning red and hot 
whenever your name was mentioned

You confused me
with your teasing remarks
and I desperately wanted to know how you felt
reading between the lines
seeing clues that you loved me
though now I know I was mistaken 

You hurt me
with your quiet rejection
and I know that you meant no harm
being your friend 
and leaving it at that
has broken my heart in two
