The Enemy’s Lament

I watch you shine, so full of light,
While I am stuck here at night,
Once I had dreams, a path so clear,
But now I hide my pain and fear.

You laugh and dance, so carefree,
While I feel trapped, yearning to be free.
I built my walls to keep me safe,
Yet in this fortress, I’m lost, misplaced.

Each time I strike, it’s just a plea,
For someone to pause and truly see me.
I’m not just envy, not just hate—
Just a wounded heart that’s lost its way.

Do you know the weight of silent shame?
The ache of feeling like you’re to blame?
While you soar high, I’m tethered low,
Wishing for strength I’ve yet to know.

Can you hear my quiet call?
A lonely soul behind the wall?
Maybe if we shared our scars,
We’d find a way beneath the stars.

For in the end, we both just want
A little kindness, a warm response.
Perhaps in understanding, we might see
That beneath the struggle, we’re not so different, you and me
