Fall Is Here

It’s here-

Prepared or not, the time has come.

The apples tumble from trees

And land in the grass

That’s wet from fall rain.

The leaves float through the breeze,

We watch through the glass.

Red and orange,

Yellow and brown.

More and more leaves

Come falling down.

Pumpkin and spices,

Sweaters and books,

Reading for hours,

Watching the sun set.

It’s here-

Prepared or not,

The time has come.

The yellow school buses,

And endless mountains of homework.

The cool winds blow,

And the blankets emerge

From the depths of the closet.

The flying geese,

The hot teas,

The breads and pies come:

As we wave goodbye to summer.

It’s here- prepared or not,

Fall has come.
