flowerbuds

new beginnings abolish limits;

the sullen clouds draw back from the sky,

liberate your ambitions that rise like cotton candy balloons

to bob among the earnestly returning birds

life engulfs the terrain, fertile with hope

rich soil turns as sprouts thrust through lome

who can imagine how sweet they will smell

when they unfurl, flowerbuds bursting sugary pink?

stiff with phantom frost, you uncurl your

crumpled body; fatigue, monotony melts

in the beam of clear skies

stretch your arms like wings against

the passionate wind who serenades the

lush lands with all her breath

budding trees nurse soft globes of green;

blooming bows are easier to climb than the dead

press your bare, earthen feet upon a branch

and ascend into the canopy

where you drink the sun like water

and swim in the cerulean horizon

for hours until your fingers wrinkle

summer is lush warmth

fall is fire and winter is ice

but spring is freedom

wrapped in possibility

and a breeze that will take you

places you have never reached before.
