I Have A Voice

The erosion of  rights towards marginalized groups feels like a personal attack on the values of equality, fairness, and justice that have importance to me. When I see rights being stripped away whether it's through legislation or social stigma, it becomes harder to believe in the promise of a more inclusive and compassionate society. It undermines the hope that progress is inevitable, as it seems that every step forward is met with a backlash.

In my circle of friends and family, we feel the weight of these changes. Many of my friends belong to marginalized groups, and when they face setbacks or attacks on their rights, it affects me too. Watching loved ones navigate a world that becomes hostile or indifferent to their rights and safety is heartbreaking.

At the same time, these struggles bring people together. We learn to support each other, fight for what’s right, and take action in our own lives. It strengthens our resolve to build a better, more equitable world for future generations, and it highlights the importance of not taking rights and freedoms for granted.

Ultimately, when the rights of any group are diminished, the whole of society suffers. These issues aren’t isolated to a single community they affect our entire nation. As a society, we have to recognize that the fight for equality is a fight for all of us, because when one group loses their rights, we all lose something essential. It is through awareness, and action that we can continue to make progress toward a more just and inclusive world.
