It’s the season of leaf peepers

If you're a New England kid

Leaf peepers

You know what I mean

Our trees shed the green

Give way to red

Orange

Yellow

Brown

And a little green.

You know what I mean

I hear French

Korean

Words I don’t know

Spoken up and down

Church street

In the local shops

Buying up all the little

Expensive knickknacks.

You don’t want to go on hikes

When it’s a weekend

The trails will be packed

Experienced hikers

And the ones who

Look like the trail is a runway.

To me

Fall is the time

When we are famous

Fall is the time

When I can’t run outside

And not put on my shoes

Fall is the time

Just before

Everything is bland

Just before

The weather gets real cold

To me

Fall is the time

When I miss summer

But can’t wait for winter.
