Problems

We live in a bubble
every one of us
walking around
with our eyes shut
and ears closed
and our mouths
always moving
proclaiming 
our own problems
not listening
to the problems
of our town
our state
our country
our world
We put ourselves
before all else
and ignore 
the collective
problems:
racism
sexism
immigration
equality
rights
climate 
war
These are things
we cannot ignore
we cannot
turn our heads
and say
not my problem
These are our problems
they are our people
this is our world
We need to care
because if we don't 
who will?
Who will raise awareness
for those who have no voice?
Who will fight for freedom
for those who have no choice?
Who will bring the peace
so that fallen ones can rejoice?
We can
we are
we will
we must
