I still hear their words in my head
Constantly reminding me
Of his brutal honesty
“If you wanna starve yourself, go ahead,”
“All my friends say you’re too ugly for me.”
“What’s wrong with you?”
“What do you mean? You are the definition of obese,”
“You look skinnier today,”
“Anorexic much?”
“Huh, you don’t look fat anymore,”
“I wish I could date someone prettier,”
“He deserves better than you,”
“You act like you’re stupid!”
“Stop being such a b****,”
“Can you just stop talking for one second?”
“Shut up, you idiot,”
“You talk way too much,”
No matter how many months have passed
No matter how many years have passed
I still hear their words in my mind
Like scars that will never fade
Constantly reminding me
Of what they taught me to believe
Yesterday I went to a therapist
That asked me for the truth
Today I received an email
And as I read
All I can think of
Are his words.
“Anorexic much?”
I guess so.
