Semblance of Democracy

[Note: This piece is meant to flow like lyrical rap.]

Is this even a semblance of a

                     democracy?

Look at the atrocities

being committed

                                             every day

by the parasites we elect who say

they represent the people

except they don't they

smile their shiny smiles

then turn their backs on us

when things don't go their way

                                 and then say

"Thank you for the money, so long." I think

about democracy every day

for the founding fathers who wrote the

constitution in the

                                                 same place

where rules are being bent every day.

I think about how they'll

look at us and say how

they didn't mean for it to be

                                                  this way.

I think about the

slaves who paved

                     the way,

who built our cities and economy.

I think about the

immigrants boarding a plane

                      fighting their way

to salvation

only to find this wretched of

                                         a place.

I think about the people who had

their rights stripped to

                                        build this place.

For the Natives, who lost their land to

the people who

left fear and despair

                                        in their wake.

I think every day "What

would become of America?"
