The Special Tree

The Special Tree

I walk into the woods after a long day of school. I go into the woods when I’m feeling down. We learn so much at school but there are things we don’t ever get to learn during our lifetime, and if so, it’s way later in life. As I walk through the woods I think about how I want to learn different things in school that we don’t get to learn, but, the people who were in school before us, all of them got to learn things that I would never get to learn in school now. Walking through the trees I think of the different times outside that I had with trees. When I was in Elementary we had a little forest area in the left-back of the school. Somedays when we had Gym class we got to go play in the woods and have fun, we would climb up trees and be high in the sky, or make forts in the woods and play games. Everyone would have many different adventures while being in the woods. That was when I was in Kindergarten when I was a little tiny child. Then when I was in first or second grade we got bookmates to read with, these were fifth grades when was in one of these grades. All of the kids in my class and the fifth grades would go out to read in the woods so we would get fresh air and enjoy the summer sky. We would all find a spot and sit with them and listen to them when they read to us. Then if we had enough time we would all play with each other in the woods. When I got older we weren’t allowed to go out into the woods but there were some trees in the back of the school it wasn’t any forest but it was trees where we would play in. During the wintertime, we would go and make snow forts or make snow carvings out of the snow with the fallen twigs off of the trees. We would have so much fun for days outside, BUT, one day the trees up on the hill in the back were all sawed down. When I heard of this and saw it with my own two eyes, it made my blood boil because we might get resources out of the trees, but what about us and our future generations what are we going to do for them when the trees keep on coming down we aren’t going to be able and if so we are going to need a lot more people to help us with this. When dealing with trees coming down we are making climate change and taking away our oxygen by doing these things. This isn’t fair to me or anybody else because with climate change happening we are ruining my future and the future of other future generations of kids. This has to be dealt with because if not, the world is going to have a lot of more bad things coming it’s way with more wildfires, rising sea levels, and more. With these things that are happening in our world NOW, these things are going to affect our life and the environment’s life too, also all the animals and plants. As I walk through the trees I stumble over a root that was in the ground, it came out of the ground and I think of how long the trees had grown over the years, all those rings in the inside of the bark. I then get up and continue to walk, I go to check what time it is but my phone is dead, well I know the area good around here so I know where I’m going. Walking down the path that I take, I see mushrooms, my head down following the mushrooms, I trip, again, the second time, I couldn’t believe it. I got up and wiped the dirt off of me, I look at my knee which now has a cut on, taking my backpack off to see if I have anything. After a while of searching, there is nothing, I notice it’s starting to get late so I start to run through the forest, running and running, I stop to catch my breath leaning forwards, I look up to see something I would never imagine in my life it was a BIG tree but it wasn’t your usual greens of yellows this tree, was RAINBOW. The colors on this tree were so vibrant that it practically blinded me, this tree was so beautiful, it stood out from all the other trees. As I walk closer to the tree I feel this connection between the tree and me, this connection was “even though we stand out it’s ok to be you and you shouldn’t have to feel asham for that” as I got closer I started to see little sparkles in the sky surrounding the tree but, as I got closer I saw that they were little fairies flying in the sky. I couldn’t believe it they were actual FAIRIES with that I sat down and looked at them as they flew around the tree, wondering if this was even true, as I watch them fly high above the sky the day darkened into night, and with that, the tree glowed even more. When watching the fairies my eyes got heavy and soon it was black.
