The time is now

This is a poem I wrote during my time at The Governor's Institute of Vermont for The Youth Action and Global Issues week. I wrote this with Josslyn, Josie, Reese, Fiona, Sadie, and Ellie.

THE TIME IS NOW
We are in a state of emergency 

THE TIME IS NOW
To listen to the people who will inherit the world

Smoke is filling our lungs
Sucking the air out
THE TIME IS NOW

You say you care about climate change
As you veto bills and privatize our public spirits 

THE TIME IS NOW
The leaves are changing far too soon
Feeling the warm March breeze in December

Nothing is inevitable
This isn't an uphill climb
NOW IS THE TIME

THE TIME IS NOW
The climate clock of terror is ticking
while you sit on your fossil fuel empires
Draining the joy
The justice we give ourselves

THE TIME IS NOW
We have the answers 
But will our actions be enough?
We don't know
But that doesn't mean we can't try
