Pest

I saw a stranger I knew very well today.

What a strange phenomenon to call them a stranger.

Countless hours spent locked in their embrace,
Trapped by the warmth, the tenderness, the familiarity,
Eons worth of minutes conversing over the most profound things we could have said,

if only I had known.

They passed me today, without even a glance,
not even a second thought.

How could my whole soul be on fire by just a mere glance, and theirs not even flinch?

I looked at you as if you were the moon,
controlling the tides of my soul,
and I am just a pest to you?

More by the depths of my soul

  • his air

    His air is still here.

It’s in the gust of wind that blows the leaves off of trees,
It’s in the gale that pushes winter’s first snow onto rooftops,
It’s in the rush of air carrying pollen from flower to flower,
  • forever

    It’s been 6 years.
6 years since you touched this Earth,
Walking barefoot through the grass, soaking in every last step.
6 years since you last laughed,
A laugh that reached into the depths of my soul.
