People and politics

It tears people apart.
It brings people together.
It creates a whirlpool of
debating, pointing fingers, and strategy.

Politics has brought divisions among us
and identity in an ever-changing world.
We get mad at its faults,
yet partake in its strengths.

It has formed democracies and dictators,
kingdoms and countries,
borders and boundaries,
and the ways we think and speak.
We often think of politics as
arguing senators making controversial decisions
and voting for, or against, those arguing senators.

Politics has shaped our history
like hands molding clay
in a nation full of rivers and roads.

The skies are clear and the sun is out,
the oars splash, and waves dance in unison.
    Layers come off.

    A place where
    we can dream,
    and be ourselves.
    We rencounter
    the day,
    and the day before,
going over it a hundred times
