The Ballad of the Human Hand

Smooth palms,
long fingers,
etched lines,
blistered skin,
all form the human hand.

They pluck and they point,
write and draw,
throw and catch,
bake and cook,
of course
they even carry the world in their palm.

Hands have engineered the greatest wonders,
from the pyramids in Egypt
to the Great Wall of China
and far beyond that.

They can drive a car
or pilot a plane,
and maybe win you a wheelbarrow race.

With that all in mind,
we should keep on working
and appreciating our hands.

  • People and politics

    It tears people apart.
    It brings people together.
    It creates a whirlpool of
    debating, pointing fingers, and strategy.

Politics has brought divisions among us
and identity in an ever-changing world.

    and opportunity.
    A place where
    we can dream,
    and be ourselves.
    We rencounter
    the day,
    and the day before,
going over it a hundred times
