Snowfall

A single,
barren spec...
falls from the sky,
twirling around,
a leaf in a
gust of wind,
nearly invisible,
but certainly there.

It glides with
the wings of an angel,
dancing passionately
with the wonderful,
crisp breeze.

As the night air
bites,
gently like
a teething puppy,
the single, unique
flake
descends leisurely,
on a soft cushion
of air.

The flake silently
hits the ground,
like a cat landing,
stealthily,
on padded paws.

For the rest of the
world,
the impact
is incredibly miniscule,
Akin to the force produced
by a landing fly.
But for the flake,
it has the strength
of a ground-shaking quake.

The Earth suddenly
takes notice of
this wondrous speck
on its back,
and snatches it up,
melting it between
greedy fingertips,
eager to gaze
upon its majesty,
only to find...
a microscopic drop,
of water.
