I saw the way you see me,
and could not believe my eyes.
 

When things get hard,
I tell myself,
how I am not the only one,
breaking down,
crying too much,
feeling too much.
It's ok to be sad,
angry,
scared.
It's not ok to pretend,
everything is fine,
when it's not.

I’ve been watching for some time,

I can’t stop staring at your ocean eyes,

I was blind,

Till I saw your eyes,

Sand dunes,

And miles of blue,

Green at the edges,

There was once a girl
who wished to exist 
in a world
without hate or fear
a world 
where she could 
be heard and be seen
she wished to be strong 
get up after crashing
her body as much her own

I have seen women love this country,
while being silenced,
beaten,
harrassed,
ignored,
raped,
accused,
put down,
and still,
they are proud to be American. 
 

You don't have to lose yourself,
to find a happiness,
you where told to have.
You have to find the happiness,
you want to have.
