Drowning in words that make no sense when put together
When I was in 5th grade we were told to write a book of poetry -
Reflection
I wonder what I look like
I have only ever seen my smile in photographs and reflections
I have never seen the way my smile beams
like my friends say it does -
Fall Broke My Heart
Fall broke my heart
Yet I still come back to it
It loved me
Until I was 14
Then fall yelled at me to grow up
That I was too old to enjoy the candy
Or the costumes -

And the birds that once talked
Have no words left to say -

It was never meant to work
You are something different than everything I have loved before
I love the smell of the forest
And baking -

making my grip untouchable
This ladder is made of led
