you know that kid

who just bursts out laughing randomly 

who seems kind of weird till you get to know them 

who genuinely cares about their world

you know that kid

bang goes the door
poof goes the smoke
your startled, and cuss loudly 
and then regret having spoke

the ghost doesn't like it
he doesn't approve you see
cussing irks him 
and now you will pay 

dreams alight on wings of eraser crumbs and dull pencils
as memories appear on wrinkled paper.

hopes fly from my mind 
while my untidy scrawl fills the page

wishes take flight in a airplane of stanzas 

You say broken 
I say whole

You say touchy 
I say emotional 

You say different 
I say unique
 
You say weirdo 
I say talented geek.

It's all perspective 

Frail
like a grandmother's hand
twisted and withered. 

Frail 
like an empty shell lying on the sand 
an old home, now abandoned.

a broken heart
locked in a cage of rib bones.
