Most days I feel like a robot 
That's been pre-programmed 
to go through the gestures of everyday life 
Without really feeling it
Some days I feel like a song
Stuck on repeat

I have to clean my room 
but I'm writing instead
I should be doing my math
but I'm writing instead
I want to take a nap
but I'm writing instead
I really should do all these things 
but I'm writing instead

life is full of surprises
surprises like you 
and your unexpected friendship
surprises like a flower on your front porch 
and a note as sweet as sugar

You think it would be simple right?
I mean, all you have to say are three words 
But no matter how many times I try
I never seem to be able to say those words to your face
