I read a book the other day
About the world ending due to a comet
in 2035.

I thought 
"Huh. Maybe that will actually happen."

Then I realized that 2035
is only 16 years away.

I'll be 30 years old

another small
body.
child
dead for
eternity
fighting 
gravidity
hunger seeping in to
icy bones
jade shirt with a small
kayak
leaping
merrily along
not seeing the 
ocean waves that

A broken winged bird
Belly brushing the sapphire sea waves
Flaming feathers licking the twinkling twilight
Yet alone
All alone
With no one but the stars.
A candlelight gathering
With nobody there
