Innocence
She has blue-green eyes
light brown hair
writting silly rhymes
meant to make people smile
she is innocent
she sees joy in everything
she sings songs of sunshine
she does not see the shadows the sun will bring -
Our world now
You will know what I mean when you have lived through a world of COVID-19
you will get what I say
if you are battling the problems of today
you will hear what you hear
when you live in a world
masked with fear -
The boy on the porch step
Sitting there
on the porch step,
gazing down,
worried
or sad, but it is hard to tell,
the face without hope,
the lonely boy, sitting on the steps,
his eyes vacant,
empty,
like maybe he once had hope, -
Snow in April
Have you ever seen snow in April?
Thin layer of heavy snow
wet
dense
smells like spring air, but colder, out of place.
Snow in April –
not fluffy snow
but closer to ice
and once it melts
it doesn't really go away -

Rain on the window
This is a poem for anyone who has ever had rain on the window
a soft tapping of the cold rain
could be a few drops of the water
or it may be a thunder storm
the kind that makes the room dark
nonetheless, it is rain
