Julie A. Davis
Vermont artist Julie A. Davis often features the state she loves, as well as neighboring Massachusetts, in her beautiful landscape paintings. She describes herself as a "naturalistic expressionist, an artist who uses the natural world to express her inner state of being." She enjoys painting en plein air – in all kinds of weather – to be close to the sounds and sights of her subjects.

Davis, a granddaughter of the late Vermont Governor Deane C. Davis, has family roots in the state since the 1700s. Her paintings reflect her deep affection and understanding of Vermont. They include a current series, "Painting the Town: Iconic Landmarks of Johnson, Vermont," which is on display at the Minemå gallery at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, where Davis started the series during an artist residency in 2013. The exhibit continues until June 8, 2024, and a portion of artist proceeds will benefit the Johnson Flood Recovery from the flood that devastated the town in July 2023.
