I miss my old neighborhood. Try to imagine this, a regular neighborhood but there's a bike path across the way that leads into these cool, breezy woods where lots of people walk their dogs and ride their bikes. My old neighborhood is where I got my dub. This bike path has a bridge going over the little river, in the winter it freezes over and is fun to walk on and explore all around it. All the people were so kind and thoughtful. There was this one man who would use his snowblower in the winter for the people who couldn't shovel and in the fall all the kids would go around and help rake the leaves up. My sisters and I were really good friends with the kids across the street from us. We would all go on bike rides, make forts in the woods near us, play in the little river, swim in their pool in the summer, and so much more. We would all act kind of inane together. We would bring them with us on our boat and we would go tubing all afternoon, it was so fun. There was also a hair salon in our neighborhood that a lot of us went to. One time I remember when we all got our hair dyed together on the ends. On Halloween almost the whole neighborhood had spooky, colorful decorations out and people would give the best candy out! On New years, we had a bomb fire and used some small fireworks. We burned one of our Christmas trees. I loved when on new year's you could go on the roof of my shed and see the fireworks all around the sky. It's beautiful. I also lived very close to one of my best friends since kindergarten. We would meet at the park between us and walk to this store together. I had so many memories there, I even loved the bus I took (I hate taking the bus).

This sounds like the most idyllic childhood imaginable! I grew up out in the boonies without any neighbors (well, they were a few minutes' walk away anyway, and there were no kids our age to play with), and I always dreamed of a neighborhood like this. Y'all almost sound like some kind of close-knit backyard collective from times gone past, roaming free, from a time when parents let their children adventure outside in a way you don't hear of much anymore. Even if you've moved away now, I'm so happy for you that you will always hold these memories in your heart.
Now that ive moved I really realize how great it was and how much fun I had. Thank you!
