All Good Things

I am still growing tall

Reaching my shoots 

of knowledge and ideas

of perspective and friendship

high into the sky to roam

with the falcons and eagles

sparrows and finches.

Someday

I will soar

into the sky

and become a part of that

beautiful harmony of sounds

and right now, I am thriving,

reveling

in that knowledge.

But deep inside me

out on my last conscious branch, 

I know that nothing gold can stay;

that all good things must end.

  • Upside Down

    Things are different.

    I don't know when they changed

    or when I noticed them changing.

    But in any case,

    my eyes are open now

    and I see that things are upside down.

    At first it was just a drop

  • We Yearn For Spring

    Poetry is hard in the winter.

    It is inexplicable but,

    for me,

    definitely true.

    In the spring, summer, and fall, 

    there are limitless possibilities, 

    endless inspirations.

  • I wish

    I wish I could see the world like a puzzle

    with each piece

    having one

    rightful

    place.

    But there is far too much 

    idealist romantic

    in me 

    for that to be the case.

    I think
