Am I The Only One?

Why are people gushing over the past,
Of the vintage clothes,
Trying new hairstyles and going shopping every day.
Why are people not changing their lives to help the planet?
Sometimes it seems that climate change
Was forgotten in the other problems of the world.
It’s so hard to find someone who cares so much about climate change
That some nights they cry themselves to sleep,
Scared that nothing on this planet will change.
That the ocean will keep rising. That people will keep dying.
That more animals will go extinct.
These problems have been swept under the bed,
Forgotten because of the pandemic,
Wars,
Celebrities.

Why do people still not believe in doing the simple things of getting an electric car, 
Using less plastic and changing from fossil fuels to renewable energy?
They don’t understand that the Earth will die if we keep treating it like it won’t, 
If we keep acting like we are the only things on the Earth.
We will end up dying out.
The native peoples cared for the Earth,
They knew how it worked,
Almost as if the Earth had a beating heart.
They knew when to stop hunting.
They knew how to survive.
Why don't we do it that way?

Don’t the people in charge understand,
That some of the most dangerous and strong forces are love and anger.
Through their acts ignoring climate changeThey have lit the fire.
And it is burning bright.
