American?

Yes I'm American, but
let's get one thing straight.
Unlike my ancestors, I'm here to learn,
not to exterminate.

I don't stand with my country
when this fool is in charge,
when most of the criminals
run around still at large.

The color of your skin,
the kink of your hair,
none of these should be crimes
in this hellish nightmare.

When your kid comes out
with fear in their eye,
you love and accept;
you never vilify.

I'm here for my friends
who are beaten and bruised.
I'm here for my family
who society refused.

So get it together.
I know that I'm white,
but believe me when I say,
I'm going to fight.

  • Restless Energy

    I have this restless energy
That leaves me in total disarray
I’m not sure what to do with her
    What exactly could I say?

I’m not sure how I know she’s here
But it’s a feeling that builds up inside

    Look, I understand
    you’re just trying to relate
    Pain makes you uncomfortable
    It’s a very human trait

    I am not in favor
Of the pain my body makes
And I will not be offended
If there’s not a part of you that aches
