Of the Chronic Sort

Look, I understand 
you’re just trying to relate
Pain makes you uncomfortable
It’s a very human trait

I am not in favor
Of the pain my body makes
And I will not be offended
If there’s not a part of you that aches

I am not a poster child
For a beat up lower back
I truly cannot tell you
If that should or shouldn’t crack

I don’t have a monopoly
On pain of the chronic sort
You don’t have to assure me
That you 'know that mine is worse'
