I'm a bit of an avid reader, more recently than in the past. Found a lot of really good books lately and thought I'd share a few of them:
- This Book Kills by Ravena Guron - Set in an elite boarding school in the UK, the story follows Jess, a scholarship student, as she tries to navigate through everything, only for one of her classmates to die in the same way as a character in her short story. She then receives an anonymous text thanking her for the inspiration. Now she has to figure out who sent it and murdered her peer, or she might be next. It's a pretty interesting story with lots of twists and surprises, tones about finding yourself in a place that tells you you don't belong, a love story roped into the plot, and a royal secret society spanning hundreds of years. All in all a really good book.
- Escape from Chernobyl by Andy Marino - As you could probably guess, this book is loosely based on the events of Chernobyl 1986. It follows three different perspectives; siblings Alina and Lev, their cousin Yuri, and Alina's best friend Sofiya. Yuri is working at the plant as a janitor when the disaster happens, Alina and Lev are awoken by a family friend who's aware of what's happening and is trying to take them away from certain death, and Sofiya's father, one of the main coordinators of the plant, is called in when things go horribly wrong. The stories all show different ways people were viewing the accident, all tying together in the end. Pretty solid read.
- Tag, You're Dead by Kathryn Foxfield - The plot for this one is a bit confusing. It starts out as a city wide tag game by a reappearing social media star, Anton, after a death at his last party, then as the first event of the night closes it turns into a supernatural thriller as the girl who died at Anton's party reappears to reveal the truth to her murder . The story progresses like the previous book mentioned, cycling through multiple POVs of the contestants. Lots of twists, turns, and secrets to be discovered. It's an alright book, good time killer.
- You Will Be Mine by Natasha Preston - Lylah has had a tough time, with losing her parents on Valentines day 2 years ago, then a year later one of her friends tried to make a move on her and kissed on the same day it all happened, disappearing months later, all while falling for their shared friend Chace. Fast forward to now, when one of her friends, Sonny, gets a letter addressed to him, seeming like a secret admirer. But when he doesn't come home that night, they start to worry, till they find him, or what's left of him. Multiple love stories and betrayal line the plot, making it an excellent read.
I've got a few more books, but I'll save those for a later date. Yes, I know most of these are similar, but they are all really good books. I didn't want to spoil too much on the very off chance that someone actually reads one of these. What I will say though is that I have reread This Book Kills 3 times and that You Will Be Mine has now become one of my all time favorites, along with This Book Kills of course.
Hope you liked the recommendations and a second list might be on the way, all depends 👀
