Boundless

Today I woke up.

I stretched my arms,

brushed my teeth.

Just as I did every morning.

Except, something was different today.

I opened the foggy window

and took a look outside.

Little birds soared together,

through the charming blue sky.

Something was different.

I was not sure why,

but I felt like a whole new person.

Like someone who could not be pushed around,

someone who was ready

for whatever the day brought,

someone who was fearless.

I smile at myself in the mirror

as I brush my hair.

Something was different.

It was just a gut feeling.

I was happy.

So happy, in fact,

I could burst.

I ran outside and laid down in the summer grass,

which was still dotted with dew drops.

Because why not?

I hadn't bothered to put on my shoes,

and suffocate my feet.

No.

Today, I would be boundless.

    We sit alone together

Pretending to be something we wish we were

Not liking the something we are

Because, maybe pretending to be something  we're not

    Will fix all our issues

The season changed and so did you

Growing cold and flicking me away

As if I was just a fly that flew

    Too close to your nose

And as golden leaves fall to the ground,

Sometimes I feel like I did too
