Bullets sprayed down on the American soldiers that were raiding the beach. The water rushed up and down on the shore violently, knocking some Americans over as it moved. Bullet after bullet, the men slowly lost their brothers. The battalion that made up 400 soldiers was now a battalion of 200 soldiers. They had lost half of their unit and hadn't even made it to the actual beach. The soldiers were faced with a question. Were they going to go home? An hour later, only ten Americans remained. They had pushed through the front bunkers and had made it up into the hills behind the beach. They sprayed no more bullets on the beach. The machine gunners wouldn't fire because the soldiers were too close. Finally, with only 7 remaining, the soldier pushed through the last bunker.
