Cowgirl’s Glitter

Blaring alarm at 5 AM.

Jumps out of bed to work

The dirty work left to her

Hauling hay before school.

Changes into a little black dress.

Eyeliner to cover her exhaustion

A pretty little teacup

With abs of steel.

Arrives a bit late to class

Gets looks of wonder

‘Who is that fragile angel

With the wary cat-eye’

Day of listless boredom

Rushes home to her friends

Smearing the makeup

More unseen work to do

Finally it is done

She tacks up

She rides out

A curfew for when the stars come

Thunder echos around the valley

sandstorm rises from the center of the earth.

A tornado.

Within it, an even bigger storm atop a mighty steed.

Mud covering her body.

Cowgirl’s glitter.
