Do not waste your youth

When has school 

become the center of my life

they say to live your life

you won't always be young

embrace the freedom

and yet

we sit all-day

inside classrooms

that feel more like cages

we stare at screens

reading about our past

instead of learning how

we can change our future

walk home

just to spend hours

filling out papers

on geology and old white men

we find time

to laugh with friends

then realize

we had three papers

two videos

one quiz

we forgot about

because we decided

to not waste our youth

on foolish things

like learning a fake history

that warped over time

as it was told over and over

we try to understand

on a three-hour sleep

deprived brain

because last night

we stayed up trying

to finish homework

we forgot about

until the deadline.
