Elephant on a Walk

I saw this crazy thing today

Today this most peculiar event happened in my neighborhood 

An event that left me starstruck

Starstruck by the big gray, wrinkly creature that walked by 

The big gray, wrinkly creature walked by with three more little yet big gray things
I ran into the house and grabbed my book

My book had a long list of marvelous and fascinating creatures and their names
I ran my fingers down the pages of my book trying to find the name of this big booming creature

This big booming creature had passed by my house

My house with its bright white shutters

The shutters caught the creatures attention 
I looked the creature straight in the eyes

Those eyes were almost as big as I am

I am now staring at my book and flipping through those pages faster, and faster 

Faster, and faster my hand finally settles on this page

This page with a drawing of the marvelous creature I am staring at

It’s still staring right back at me
I slide my finger up the page to the name 

The name reads Elephant

Do you mean to tell me this Elephant decided to take a walk in my neighborhood?

You won’t believe it…
