Fairy on the Breeze (An Ode to L)

I walk outside my door.

To hear the breeze today

See what it has to say.

"I can't go on no more

My friend has left the sea

No longer wild nor free

And I can't see her anymore."

Then the wind picked up,

And it blew away

The Fairy on the breeze.

I walk outside my door.

To hear the breeze today

See what it has to say.

"My life is sad and poor

I cannot find the light

So  tired of this fight

I just can’t bear the sight

Of them holding my dear friend

In a cage they call a home.

Nowhere to run,

And nowhere to roam.”

Then the wind picked up

And it swept away

The fairy on the breeze.

I walk outside the gate

To hear the breeze today,

See what she has to say.

“I think I see my fate

To leave this town behind

Break free from my mind

Go where people act more kind

My friend forgot my face

I can’t love her anymore.”

Then the wind picked up

And it whisked away

The fairy on the breeze.

Then the spring came.

I walked outside my door,

Asking “Are you there, my friend?”

I heard the whistle of the breeze

And I knew she was still there.

The girl whispers in the air

“I think that maybe i’m okay.

Everything is lighter now

And warmer all around.

And the flowers bloom and grow

And the wind will always blow.

And I’m okay.”

Then the fairy on the breeze gave a sigh

And she disappeared into the sky.

When I look up at the stars,

I think of that sad girl.

The one on the breeze.

I hope that she is well.

My heart starts to swell.

She is free.
